Reflections
Teacher Reflection
As an educator, I value the power of reflection because reflection allows me to think about my thinking, planning process, instruction strategies, and classroom experiences. In these moments of reflection I gain new understanding of my personal philosophy of teaching and learning, discover ways to improve in the classroom as a teacher, and determine strategies for future instruction. I am constantly writing about my experiences in the classroom in my daybook.

Student Reflection
I encourage students to reflect on learning experiences to understand thinking and learning processes. Throughout the semester, I asked students to write weekly reflection statements using the handouts pictured below. The handouts were created by Dr. Shana Hartman, Professor of English at Gardner-Webb University. Also, most of the reflective writing completed this semester is stored in the daybooks. I included a few examples of the daybook reflections below the weekly reflection handouts.
