About Me
Welcome to my professional portfolio! My name is Julianne Jones and I am originally from Ashe County, North Carolina. I graduated from Ashe County High School in May 2007. I was active in softball and soccer, a contributing writer for the school newspaper, and a three year member of the Upward Bound program at Appalachian State University. Through the Upward Bound program, I participated in many educational opportunities that contributed to my educational and personal growth.
After graduating from high school, I spent the following summer living on campus at Appalachian State University, taking two college classes and working for Sandra L. Ballard, editor of Appalachian Journal. During my internship with this publication, I was an editorial assistant for Appalachian Journal Volume 34, Numbers 3-4 and Neighbor to Neighbor: A Memoir of Family, Community, and Civil War in Appalachian North Carolina.
In May 2011 I graduated from Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC with the following degree: Bachelor of the Arts in English, and a minor in Professional Education. I completed my professional student teaching semester at Crest High School in Shelby, NC. I taught three 12th grade English Language and Literature classes for ten weeks. I hope to attend Appalachian State University in the fall of 2014 to begin coursework for my Master's degree.
I am currently teaching English at Grayson County High School in Independence, Virginia.
